Cardboard campaigning material returned to campus in the early hours of this morning following the 2017 Full-Time Officer debates in the University of York Students’ Union (YUSU)’s officer elections.

Candidates and their campaign teams began their physical campaigning shortly after the close of the FT Officers’ debates, attaching cardboard and banners featuring slogans and advertisements to structures on campus.

Candidates have been reminded by the YUSU President Millie Beach to ensure that their campaign material does not mask the white strips on certain structures on campus, which exist to aid students with visual impairments in moving through university grounds.

Last night, candidates for the five Sabbatical positions – President, Activities Officer, Academic Officer, Community & Wellbeing Officer and York Sport President – spoke together and received questions from a live audience and from Twitter.

The event was monitored by student media including The YorkerNouse, University Radio York and York Vision. You can read The Yorker‘s live blog here.

The debates were chaired by former Community & Wellbeing Officer Scott Dawson and serving YuCycle Events Intern Matthew Ingram.
