The University of York Students’ Union (YUSU) has today launched a new ‘Student Noticeboard‘ to provide York students with information, notices and connections to businesses and artists.
The union president, Ben Leatham, announced on Facebook that the Student Noticeboard, on which he has been working since taking the chief sabbatical role, has entered its beta stage and is accessible for all students.
Students now have the opportunity to post notices and information on a consistent forum, alerting each other to upcoming events, deadlines and procedures. Students will also be able to find details for training programmes organised by the student union.
The Student Noticeboard enables students to search for other students who can be hired to work on projects including photography and design. Secondly, students can organise equipment hire or borrowing from different societies for musical, dramatic and other events. Students are also able to advertise their own businesses, giving details on what kind or service or product that their enterprises provide.
In an example post, Isaac Beevor, the incoming York Sport President, advertises his services as a singer, rapper and dancer with his election campaign videos, charging £50 per event.
The Student Noticeboard is in its beta stage; users are welcome to pass on notice to the President if they notice any bugs or other technical problems with the service.
Ben Leatham was contacted by The Yorker for comment, but is away at a conference. No other Sabbatical Officers were available for comment. However, Sport President Grace Clarke and incoming Community and Wellbeing Officer Dom Smithies have expressed their admiration for Ben Leatham on social media.
