YUSU Shortlisted for NUS Award

University of York student’s union (YUSU) have been shortlisted for a 2015 NUS award.

The NUS Awards include a Diversity Award, an Enterprise Award, an Education Award and a Student Opportunities award. YUSU have been nominated for the ‘Campaigns Award’ alongside competitors including Sheffield Hallam and City University London. The campaign which put YUSU in the running was the ‘Nightsafe’ project, along with other safety iniatives. YUSU president Sam Maguire is “delighted”.

Last year, Jack Gevertz from the University of York won the award for Student Journalist of the Year.

The 2015 awards will be judged by an experienced panel from the education sector, including John Gill from Times Higher Education and Abby Young-Powell, from Guardian Education. The winners will be announced on the 8th of July at White’s Hotel, Bolton Wanderers Football Stadium.
